Part 3: From Finse towards Jotunheimen

This area is sometimes called Skarvheimen.

After Finse, most winter routes are marked from the begining of March


Step 1: Finse - Geiterygghytta (closed)
- via Omsvatnet (west) : 20 km, said as easiest route, climb from 1200 to 1400m at the higest on the way
- via Kyrkjedøri (east) : 21 km, high point over 1500 m

Step 2: Geiterygghytta til Kongshelleren: 14km, start with uphill roughly 200 m, can go to the top of Sundhellerskarvet (1600 m) to the right of the track at the begining of the tour for the view

Step 3: Kongshelleren til Iungsdalshytta : 17 km, lakes then go down from 1465 to 1100


Alternative route

Step 1: Finse - Storestølen fjellstugu (private open from January, 908 23 137): 31km, first 27km to Raggsteindalen and 4km more over the lake Strandatnet

Step 2: Storestølen fjellstugu - Iungsdalshytta: 21 km


Step 4: Iungsdalshytta til Bjordalsbu : 16 km but up from 1100 to 1600m

Step 5: Bjordalsbu - Breistølen: 11 km, goes down from 1600 m to 1025 m, Breistølen is on road 52, (plan the last refill of supply)

Step 6: Breistølen - Sulebu: 18 km, start steep uphill to 1400m and up and down until Sulebu at 1330m

Step 7: Sulebu - Slettningsbu: ~15km, go down to 990m and back up to 1300m
